Summary

Based on the review of previous studies and the contribution of unpublished data, an analysis of the non-adult population of the settlement of the Copper Age of Valencina de la Concepción (Seville) is carried out. In total, 39 non-adult subjects buried in funerary containers of different types and distributed throughout the extensive chronology of this settlement are examined. As a result, the high variability of the proportion of this segment of the population in the funeral structures of Valencina is verified, as well as the existence of indications of a differentiated treatment for it. As part of the discussion, the association of these individuals with types of funerary containers, adult individuals and grave goods is examined, evaluating their demographic and social significance.

Summary

Our study of El Garcel, one of the most important sites of Spanish prehistory, is based on the documentation and materials of the Siret Collection of the National Archaeological Museum. New dates are presented by Termoluminiscencia. In light of the new information on its structures and materials obtained for this work, we offer a different perspective on the occupation period of El Garcel and its spatial features, as well as on the activities carried out at the site. This allows us to develop a new perspective on the socio-economic role of the deposit in the Spanish southeast during Prehistory.

Summary

We present a joint and interpretative review of the evidence recovered in the Casa Montero flint mine (Madrid, Spain). We describe the technical and social aspects of flint mining in the specific historical context of the Ancient Neolithic societies of the Iberian Peninsula. The combination of all the recovered evidence allows us to suggest that mining in Casa Montero was probably a generational phenomenon, where acts of aggregation of small groups for the development of collective actions served as the basis to establish new political relationships beyond each individual group . This required a set of strategic preconditions, tactics and logistics, including the ability and ability to convene, design and organize an orderly set of actions such as those developed in the mine itself. We propose that these social preconditions are key to go beyond the formal and technical variability of mines.
